I wish I could afford to go to all four days but tickets were quite pricey and I was sick earlier in the week. Nevertheless Day 4 of FASHFEST was spectacular. I went with a couple of my friends. As suggested by her friends, we arrived at least an hour early and I'm so glad we did that. They had rolled out red carpets where we were able to take photos on. It was fun dressing up and getting photos taken on the red carpet. While waiting for the show to start we arrived in the waiting area where the bar was. We got a glass of champagne included in the Gold ticket and also canapes. And they also had a chocolate fountain which was pretty cool!
The program line up was great.
The first design on the catwalk was Zilpah Tart by Yumi Morissey. Her designs were full of vibrant colours and print. The designer showcased her electric blue kaleidoscope print inspired by the Parliament House. This was my favourite of the night.
Next up was Boho Bird by Birdsnest which showcased bohemian fashion styles. The hair and makeup matched the feminine and bohemian style of the collection.
The French lingerie collection by Simone Perele was next. The collection was very sophisticated and included structured corset and lingerie.
Melbourne designer Cameron & James showcased a modern and edgy style of menswear label. The designer focuses on ethically sustainable clothing using organic and natural material. He did not only showcased his label through clothing but used the model to express his designs using body paints.
The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) students showed their marvellous designs. The All star showcase showed various designs which was aesthetically pleasing and trendy.
Assemblage Project by Karen Lee featured bold monochrome designs full of textures. The designs are all about movement, changing forms and changing shapes.
The night closed with Corr Blimey design by Louisa de Smet and her partner Steven Wright. The design has a structural approach to streetwear and has a futuristic robotic feel to it. The designer closed the last night of FASHFEST with style.
Overall it was a fantastic night and I'm glad I went. This was my first time going to Fashfest and I had a fun night dressing up and seeing designs from local designers. Hopefully next year will be even better!
