You may think Canberra is a boring place but there's always lots of interesting events happening around. One of them which I attended 2 weekends ago on 11 April was the Hustle and Scout market and the Forage pop up food market. This was the second time I attended this market and it was even better than the first one.
Hustle & Scout is a fashion market showcasing independent Australian designers. This year there were 53 designers and collectors showcasing their products selling everything from clothing to jeweleries. There were so many interesting designs and although I didn't go crazy on a spending spree I did buy a couple of little jeweleries for myself and for presents as they were unique and different.
The Forage is a showcase of street food and these time there were quite a variety of selection from Pod food, Sweet Bones Bakery, Bentspoke Brewery to Mr Papa Peruvian Street Food. I wasn't that hungry that day but I did try out the Lobster corn roll from Pod Food and my friend Mel had the Vietnamese Roll which looked great!

In addition to the food and fashion market, there was workshops run by the Makers' Collective. The Makers’ Collective is made up of The Makers’ Hub, The Makers’ Day, The Makers’ Project Box and, of course, the Makers members. The Hub is a space available for makers, artists and crafters, to use as a drop-in studio. I also got to meet Mikaela Danvers, the owner of the Makers' Collectve on the day. I've been in touch with her by email and online so it was great to finally meet her.
Some of the workshops running on the day were crochet jewelleries, fabric earrings and making your own silver ring. Fortunately I was able to join the making your own silver ring workshop. It was so much fun.. and it was actually quicker than I thought. It was just a basic hammered sterling silver ring but I love it!!
Lastly there were also some interesting random things that happened on the day. There was a cat walk and also 2 masked dancers that were dancing just around the Hustle & Scout stalls.
So all in all, it was a great day. That day we had the perfect warm and sunny autumn day full of great events! I can't wait till the next Hustle & Scout + Forage market.
